Monday & Wednesday Group Long Term Development Camp (June 17 – August 14th, 2023)

For the Summer of 2024 Long Term Development Camps will be held at the newly renovated Travis Roy Arena at North Yarmouth Academy! All players will be offered 3 hours of ice per day, twice a week, for  with the best instruction Maine has to offer. Our on-ice skills will focus on skating and puck handling as the foundation. Our goal is to generate the most athleticism possible out of your athlete. Conceptual pieces and learning how to use these practiced skills will be done in Small area games. We will greatly emphasize the need to translate what is taught to how it can be used in-game. Each day we will play small area games. Our athletes will be taught how to use skills in game situations to gain advantages on their opponents.

Video analysis with iPads and TV’s will be used to help elevate your child’s learning with instant feedback from our instructors. Each session will have 4-6 coaches on-ice instructing. If your child is ready to learn, we are ready to teach!

LTD players will receive two  jerseys with socks. Jerseys can be seen in the Photo Gallery next to the description of camps, just scroll over. Each player will get two customized jerseys with last name and desired number. Players will also receive a t-shirt and hat of their choosing!

Alex Kurtz Hockey is excited to announce a partnership for off-ice training with Maine Gainz. Maine Gainz was founded by Jenni Laferriere to bridge the gap between dry-land training and sports performance. As a semi-professional rugby player, Jenni noticed that not all off season programs properly prepared athletes for the demands of their sport.

These summer off-ice sessions will focus on developing speed, agility, and quality movement that directly translates to on-ice performance. Sessions are sport specific for hockey players. We are not ‘running laps’. Instead, we are developing athleticism. Off-ice Sessions will be instructed by Maine Gainz on/in North Yarmouth Academy’s facilities, grass fields or turf field with added facilitation from Alex Kurtz Hockey Staff. Each off-ice session with Maine Gainz will be done directly after our second on-ice session of the day. Maine Gainz has immense experience and specializes in training youth, high school, and collegiate athletes. 

Communally, Alex Kurtz Hockey and Maine Gainz both view this as an essential foundational period for athletic development. We take pride in our athletes development. 

What your child needs for camp:

*Note: THERE IS OFF-ICE TRAINING* BRING PROPER FOOTWEAR

NO CROCS OR FLIP-FLOPS!!!

• Full Gear
• Packed Lunch (We do not provide food or accessibility to leave the rink to get food without the parent/guardian present) 
• Snacks for in-between Sessions
• Refillable water bottle
• Change of cloths in the instance that they get sweaty and need to change
• Proper Footwear, this is essential (No Crocs, Slides, Flip-Flops, etc.)
• Any other necessities your son/daughter is required for the day. If there is an allergy or medical condition please let us know! We’re here to help.

Daily Schedule

**Drop off: 7am day 1**

7:30am drop off at Travis Roy Ice Arena & North Yarmouth Academy

8:00am-9:30am on-ice skills

9:30am-11:00am break/off-ice mobility

11:10am-12:40pm on-ice skills & conceptual small area games

1:00pm-1:45pm Maine Gainz off-ice speed and agility training 

Pick up: 2pm-2:15pm
