Our Mission
Alex Kurtz Hockey’s mission is to restore and elevate the skill/ability level of hockey players and coaches in the state of Maine. Gleaned from years of working with professional, college, and youth players of all levels, Coach Alex Kurtz’ teaching approach is customized to help maximize each person’s growth. We want to create lasting development through proper game applicable teaching while educating both players and coaches in a structured small setting. Visual learning and teaching with video analysis help separate us from other development camps. The goal is to teach.
Coaching Background
Alex Kurtz has been an Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development for Wentworth Institute of Technology since 2021. Alex Kurtz Hockey is also proud to be a part of Casco Bay Youth Hockey Organization as one of the Directors of Player Development since 2022. We at Alex Kurtz Hockey pride ourselves with teaching youth players through to the college level and beyond.
Alex Kurtz X Maine Gainz
Alex Kurtz Hockey is excited to announce a partnership for off-ice training with Maine Gainz (this will only be for Long Term Development Campers). Maine Gainz was founded by Jenni Laferriere to bridge the gap between dry-land training and sports performance. As a semi-professional rugby player, Jenni noticed that not all off season programs properly prepared athletes for the demands of their sport.
These summer off-ice sessions will focus on developing speed, agility, and quality movement that directly translates to on-ice performance. Sessions are sport specific for hockey players. We are not “running laps”. Instead, we are developing athleticism. Off-ice sessions will be instructed by Maine Gainz on/in North Yarmouth Academy’s facilities, grass fields or turf field with added facilitation from Alex Kurtz Hockey Staff. Each off-ice session with Maine Gainz will be done directly after our second on-ice session of the day. Maine Gainz has immense experience and specializes in training youth, high school, and collegiate athletes. (This will only be for Long Term Development Campers)
Communally, Alex Kurtz Hockey and Maine Gainz both view this as an essential foundational period for athletic development. We take pride in our athletes development.
